Paris: what changes locally (and what doesn’t)
Most titre validation is national via ANEF now — but housing pressure, CAF processing queues, and student density in Paris still shape your first months.
Titre / ANEF
Do not wait for a mythical in-person Paris appointment to "start" validation if ANEF tells you to validate online. Follow the national portal, and confirm any local instructions on the official préfecture site for Paris / Paris / Île-de-France.
Full walkthrough: Validate your titre de séjour and the ANEF/OFII timeline.
Local realities
- Housing — Extremely competitive private market; CROUS and early Visale help. Expect longer search times than mid-size cities.
- Guarantor — Visale still matters; start early (Visale guide).
- CAF — High volume; incomplete files get stuck. Still needs bank + typically social security first.

Do I validate my titre at the Paris préfecture in person?
Often validation is online via ANEF. Only follow in-person steps if your file or official pages explicitly require them.
Is CAF harder in Paris?
Eligibility rules are national; processing times and document follow-ups vary. Having RIB + Ameli ready still matters most.
Where should I start if I just arrived?
First-week order: bank, phone, CVEC if needed, then Ameli and titre deadline tracking — see the checklist.
